Todas as Palestras em Inglês (todas excepto uma!)/All Talks in English (all but one!)

Para que não haja dúvidas, e para quem ninguém se sinta defraudado no final, queremos reiterar o aviso de que as palestras serão todas em inglês (exceptuando uma, no último dia), uma vez que os orçamentos que foram apresentados para a tradução simultânea, feita profissionalmente, eram incomportáveis para um evento deste tipo.
In order to make things as clear as possible and so people won't feel cheated at the end of the symposium, we want to warn everyone that all the talks will be in English (except for one, on the last day), since the budgets that we managed to get for professional simultaneous translation were out of our league, cost-wise, for an event such as this one.

Não obstante, temos algumas estratégias planeadas para minimizar esse facto e para ajudar quem não entenda o inglês tão bem, nomeadamente:
Nevertheless, we have some strategies planned to minimize the fact that the talks will be in English and to help those who don't understand English so well, namely:

1) Vamos dar um cartão vermelho a cada participante, no momento de chegada e inscrição dos participantes, que os mesmos poderão levantar no ar em qualquer altura, se não perceberem alguma coisa no decorrer das palestras, e sendo traduzida a ideia que estava a ser transmitida imediatamente;
2) Ambas as oradoras estão conscientes da possível dificuldade de entendimento dos participantes, pelo que vão tentar falar o mais pausadamente possível, utilizando frases curtas e simples, e, ao mesmo tempo, tentando recorrer o mínimo possível a trocadilhos/jogos de palavras exclusivamente referentes à realidade americana (a utilização de jogos de palavras pode dificultar ainda mais o entendimento, por não estarmos a par daquela realidade social e cultural de forma tão profunda);
3) As palestras irão ser gravadas (já temos autorização para o fazer), com o objectivo de serem transcritas e traduzidas e, posteriormente, colocadas online, à disposição dos participantes (gratuitamente);
4) Irá haver haver uma sessão de perguntas frequentes sobre o "unschooling" no segundo dia, no final do dia, e essa será totalmente em português.
1) We will give each attendee a red card when they arrive at the symposium and register, that they can hold up at any point, whenever they don't understand something that's being said, and that will immediately be translated into Portuguese;
2) Both speakers are aware that some attendees might have a hard time understanding English, so they'll try to talk as slowly as possible, using short and clear sentences and trying to avoid puns and word games as much as possible (which can make it even more difficult to understand the talks, because we are not aware of America's cultural and social idiosyncracies);
3) The talks will be recorded (we already have permission to do so), so they can be transcribed and then translated, and made available online later on to everyone who attended the symposium (for free); 
4)There will be a session on the second day, at the end of the day, where we will talk about the most asked questions about unschooling and that talk will be in Portuguese.

De qualquer forma, mesmo para quem não domine o inglês, eu acho que esta é uma oportunidade única, não só de ouvir e conhecer estas senhoras maravilhosas, como também de conhecer mais pessoas com experiência e com um paradigma de pensamento semelhante. Vamos ter vários momentos com possibilidade de convívio, pelo que também, nessas alturas, se pode resumir o que foi dito para quem não tenha apanhado tudo.
Anyway, even for people who don't understand English very well, I think this will be a unique opportunity, not only to listen to and meet these amazing women, but to know other like-minded people that already have some experience of unschooling their children. We'll have a lot of time to be together and chat, during coffee breaks and at lunch time, so we can also summarize in Portuguese what has been said during the talks in the meantime.
